Finding the Right Invisalign Dentist

Invisalign aligners are clear plastic aligners that an Invisalign dentist uses to help their patients straighten their teeth. When the patient comes in for a consultation, the Invisalign dentist will examine their mouth and take a 3D scan of the mouth. This is used to come up with a customized plan to straighten the patient’s teeth.

Once the plan has been agreed upon and the patient has been shown how their teeth will gradually move into the desired position, the dentist will send the scan to a laboratory where a tray of customized aligners will be made for the patient. When the aligners are ready, the dentist will ask the customer to pick up the aligners and provide instructions on how they are to be used.

How to find the right Invisalign dentist

Despite the increasing popularity of Invisalign, finding the right Invisalign dentist can be difficult. All it takes for a dentist to offer Invisalign to their patients is the completion of a training course, which lasts for a day.

One day is not adequate enough to familiarize one’s self with the treatment and understand the options that are available. Thus, Invisalign has introduced three provider levels, making it easier for patients to find the right Invisalign dentist for the job.

The three provider levels used by Invisalign are:

  • Preferred provider: To become a preferred provider, a dentist must take at least 10 Invisalign classes every year, either online or in person. The dentist also has to use Invisalign on at least 10 patients. All dentists and orthodontists that offer Invisalign as a treatment option to their patients must meet this requirement to provide the service
  • Premier provider: Like the preferred provider, these dentists also have to take the same classes online or in person. However, instead of the treatment being used on 10 patients, the dentists must use it on at least 50 patients in total and 24 cases in six months. Dentists that reach the premier qualification have a better knowledge of how Invisalign works
  • Elite provider: These dentists make up 1% of all the dentists that offer Invisalign. Like the other two levels of providers, they also have to take 10 classes either online or in person. However, they must have treated over 300 patients since they started offering Invisalign and must treat at least 48 cases every six months. These providers treat many different cases at the same time and have a good understanding of how Invisalign can be used to treat moderate to severe alignment and bite problems

How do I know what the Invisalign dentist’s rating is?

People who have decided to straighten their teeth with Invisalign can check out the Invisalign rating of potential dentists by visiting the Invisalign website and selecting the level of experience that they are looking for.

Conclusion

An Invisalign dentist has a specific rating that lets patients know their level of experience in straightening teeth with Invisalign. If you want to straighten your teeth using Invisalign, make sure the dentist or orthodontist that you choose is experienced enough by visiting the company’s website.
